Robert’s Memory Quilt

This quilt was made for man whose father died during the Covid pandemic. He and his siblings wanted to present it to their mother at Christmas.

Starting fabrics, mostly knits. All of them had to stabilized before cutting and assembling into blocks. Additional fabric for the background, borders, and backing also needed to purchased and added to complete the quilt.
The first few blocks on the design wall. You can see the secondary pattern of offset empty blocks begins to emerge.
These are all the different fabrics used in the quilt. A combination of teals, reds, burgundy, navys, and yellows on a cream background make up the coloration. A dozen of the shirts and pants fabrics were used plus four quilting fabrics.

It took their mother a moment to recognize that the fabrics in the quilt had belonged to her her husband. When she did, the entire family had a tearful but joyful moment remembering their father. That’s the power of a memory quilt.
